Start with things you like to eat.
Plant corn, tomatoes, capsicums, pumpkins, zucchinis and cucumbers in mid Spring. Plant brassicas in late winter or late summer. Plant onions and leeks any time of the year. Plant greens any time of the year. Plant herbs in Spring and Autumn.
The trick is to always be planting. Set up a little green house and always have 4 or 5 seedlings trays on the go. I like to use the black plastic trays that hold 32 seedlings. I find these trays are the best for home gardeners.
- They are large enough to give the plants plenty of space to get to a decent size before planting out.
- It’s easy to get the plants out when it’s time to plant
- 32 Seedlings is a good amount. Expect to lose 20% so you therefore have 25 plants to harvest once ready
