Cordyceps is a parasitic fungus that grows in straight, slender stems.
History of Cordyceps
Historically harvested from the Himalayas, Cordyceps has been used for thousands of years in Tibetan and traditional Chinese medicine for its potential health benefits. Nowadays, cultivation usually involves growing the fungus on a substrate of grains under controlled conditions. Our cordyceps is grown right here in Victoria, where it consumes Certified Organic brown rice as its food source.
Cordyceps Sinensis vs. Cordyceps Militaris
There are two main types of Cordyceps fungi: Cordyceps Sinensis and Cordyceps Militaris. While both strains offer similar health benefits, Cordyceps Militaris stands out for its ability to boost energy levels and enhance endurance thanks to its higher concentration of bioactive compounds.
A better question is what is Cordyceps not good for! It’s no wonder it is one of the most revered mushrooms in the world, with a range of potential health benefits.
Energy-Boosting Effects of Cordyceps
Cordyceps supplements are often taken to improve energy levels and endurance. It provides slow release energy without the jitters of caffeine-based products, making it a go-to for improving exercise and exercise performance.
Simply add 3 – 5 Cordyceps pieces to hot water and allow to steep for 3 minutes to enjoy the health benefits of cordyceps. Add a teaspoon of honey if you prefer your tea with a touch of sweetness.
Most Cordyceps on the market are an extract with one specific compound diluted in alcohol or water.
Our Cordyceps is 100% fruiting body (full spectrum whole food), rich in cordycepin, adenosine and many other compounds,
Our Cordyceps is also freeze dried to lock in (almost) as many nutrients and vitamins as consuming the mushroom fresh. It’s a very expensive process but one that we think is well worth the extra cost.
Most Cordycep mushroom products are sold as a powder to mask the fact that it doesn’t contain any Cordyceps fruiting body. Our Cordyceps is actual mushroom pieces.
Other Cordyceps on the market are grown as quickly as possible to maximise profits (usually less than 21 days). Our Cordyceps is allowed to grow and mature for 45 or 60 days prior to harvest.
This maximises the amount of cordycepin and adenosine contained within the mushroom.
Most sellers only allow the Cordyceps to grow for 14 days. The longer it is allowed to grow for, the more time it has to develop the Cordycepin and other active compounds.
We stock two extremely high grades of Cordyceps:
Grade | Description |
A Grade | Cultivated for a minimum of 45 days |
A+ Grade | Cultivated for a minimum of 60 days |
No major side effect of cordyceps have been reported. But it is not recommended for pregnant women or children under 5.

Cordyceps gives me a much needed energy boost. Way better than coffee and doesn’t give you the anxious, jittery feeling that coffee can. As a mum of young children this has really helped me to start getting active again and playing more with my kids.
Find that mixed with the chai or with my daily coffee it makes my energy last longer through the day. They taste alright too.
