The idea seemed great – I could sell a very small amount of equity in my business (10% or so) and in return, people all over Australia could invest in my Forest Super Foods.
I signed up and it took literally 3 months to prepare to go live with the offer to investors.

During the offer period, a LOT of people signed up to invest. The total amount was well over $1 million dollars. I was excited and so were they.
The night before the crowdfund officially opened I received a phone call from an older lady.
She said my super foods had given her a lot of benefits. She didn’t have much money… but what she did have she wanted to invest in the business.
In that moment I realised that I couldn’t go ahead with the crowdfunding…. why?
If I went ahead I would always be thinking about that customer (and all the other investors) and I will feel compelled to ensure I provided them with the best possible return on their investment.
BUT that’s not what Forest Super Foods is about.
